Investing in Our Facilities
Howard Levine Athletic Complex
The Need
Nearly 90% of our students in grades 7-12 are athletes, yet we lack space to accommodate all games and practices, creating scheduling challenges for our student-athletes and their families.
The Solution
Additions and renovations to the Howard Levine Athletic Complex will ease overcrowding, including: a new multi-purpose field, a synthetic turf field, a permanent 500-spectator bleacher system, a premier 9-court tennis facility, additional parking, a shelter and concession stand and an upgraded trail system.

Extended Day Building
The Need
Our after-school enrichment program for students in grades TK – 5 has grown 55% since 2010. We need a robust, dedicated space to meet the growing community demand for this program.
The Solution
A new 5,125-square-foot building will offer engaging spaces for students to unwind, study, and be creative after school. This increase in space will allow Latin to serve a greater number of families in need of quality after-school care.
The Extended Day facility is providing space in 2020-21 so the Lower School can spread out to meet CDC guidelines.

Upper School & Administration Building
The Need
Our Upper School facilities are aging and our curriculum is growing. With that, we cannot accommodate increased demand for classroom space, high-tech learning tools, or collaborative study rooms.
The Solution
A state-of-the-art, 50,000-square-foot building will not only become an impressive front door for Latin, it will contain more intentionally designed learning spaces and collaborative meeting rooms, all supported by modern technology solutions. Watch Video

The McIntosh Leadership Center
The Need
Every student has the capacity to lead, and Latin Leads with Honor promotes this idea. While students currently have the opportunity to gain skills to grow as leaders, there is a lack of dedicated space for carrying out the program’s initiatives.
The Solution
We will renovate our 100/200 building to create The McIntosh Leadership Center. This facility provides unique spaces for service learning, leadership training, clubs, debate, and more. This will be a hub of active learning and gathering, and a vital launching pad for our future leaders. Much like Latin’s beloved Fab Lab, the McIntosh Leadership Center is among the first facilities of its kind in K-12 independent schools and distinguishes Charlotte Latin from its peers. The McIntosh Leadership Center will also provide flex space for our Middle School so that they have additional classrooms, including a large gathering space.

Fitness Center
The Need
Latin seeks to promote wellness for students, employees and families. Current wellness spaces are few and far between across campus, and a demand for more multi-purpose training space is on the rise.
The Solution
We will construct the Fitness Center on the site of the former tennis facility on our main campus. The new Fitness Center fulfills a significant need as our current athletic development and wellness space could not meet the demand from our community. Our athletic teams also need flexible space for cross training and days when there is inclement weather. The Fitness Center will open in the fall of 2020 expanding our space for indoor conditioning and team practices, strength training, and wellness programs, ensuring that all Hawks have access to facilities that will keep them healthy, safe, and strong. In addition, the Fitness Center will provide much needed space for our PE programs.
