On Sunday, August 16, 2020, Charlotte Latin hosted an intimate dedication gathering to honor a special teacher and celebrate the impact of a Latin family. Through a generous gift to the school, the Kenefick family — Joy (Trustee), Chris, Ana ’20, and Sara ’20 — honored World Languages Chair and Upper School Spanish teacher Gretchan Frederick.

The Kenefick’s gift and recognition was commemorated with a permanent plaque outside of room 812 in the Inlustrate Orbem Building, one of the collaborative instructional flex spaces made possible by the Vision2020 campaign. The plaque acknowledges Señora Frederick’s thoughtful preparedness and inspirational passion for her students and her subject.

Head of Upper School Lawrence Wall also spoke of Gretchan’s dedication to teaching and acknowledged the generosity of families such as the Keneficks, such generosity which has been transformational for teaching and learning in our Upper School. Recent Latin graduates, Ana and Sara shared some memorable experiences in Señora Frederick’s classes.
