What about the campaign plans inspired you to say Yes when called to serve as chairs of this effort?
Our family knows that a fine K-12 education is the starting block for self-sufficiency, as well as for community and global prosperity. The leadership component of Vision2020 is vital. Latin is fortunate to be led by many outstanding people who guide our School’s success; our communities and our world need that same caliber of leadership. By locating the Leadership Center in the center of campus, we create opportunities for lower and middle schoolers, as well as their upper school mentors.
Why is now a good time for Charlotte Latin to launch a capital campaign?
With anxiety increasing virtually everywhere, it is our responsibility as a School to assess our programs and facilities. After doing so, we feel it is critical to:
- provide space not only for additional classes and an expanded curriculum, but for student/teacher meetings and tutoring.
- increase athletic field options to address the growing number of student athletes and also to do whatever we can to shorten the school day so athletes can get home earlier to focus on homework and family time.
- create permanent space for our Extended Day programming which supports the School’s growing number of dual-working families.
- increase security measures within our 128-acre campus.
What are you most excited about in Vision2020?
There is something for everyone in the Vision2020 Campaign. The priorities have been analyzed in great detail and planned with great thought. Input from parents, teachers, students, alumni, administrators and trustees has been considered throughout the process. We are excited because we feel that this is an effort that all of the School’s constituencies can get behind and will be pleased to support. The end result will mean an even better School for our children, our children’s children, and for generations to come.
